A Valuable Tool To Mutual Understanding

The Sister Cities Association of Kenosha, WI, Inc. is designed to strengthen the long-term relationships between and among our Sister Cities of Douai, France; Wolfenbuttel, Germany; Cosenza, Italy; and Quezon City, Phillipines.

Regular exchanges and visits occur between Kenosha, Wolfenbuttel, Germany and Douai, France. Visits involve both student and adult groups, who stay in the homes of host families and who tour the community and surrounding areas.

As a member of the Sister Cities Association of Kenosha, WI, Inc., you can help strengthen the bonds of friendship and understanding between nations, their people and businesses.

You can also help the Association establish relationships with other countries that desire cultural exchange. In addition, you may become involved in a variety of other areas with the Association, including its public relations efforts, its budgeting and fund-raising, its youth exchanges or its overall efforts to improve our exchange program with a particular Sister City.

Profiles of our Sister Cities

Wolfenbuttel, Germany:

Located in the northern part of Germany, and south of Hamburg, Wolfenbuttel has a population of more than 40,000 people. It is the home of Duke August Library, which contains one of the best collections of European historical writings. Wolfenbuttel and Kenosha have been Sister Cities since 1970 and regular exchanges have occurred since then including trips by the Tremper Golden Strings in 2009 & 2015. Douai, France:

Located in the northern part of France, 13 miles southwest of the Belgium border, Douai was one of the three major judicial centers in France and has important chemical and engineering works. Douai has the largest belfry in Europe. The famous Douai translation of the Bible was produced there. Douai and Kenosha have been Sister Cities since 1981 and periodic exchanges have occurred since then including a trip by the Tremper Golden Strings in 2009. Web site: www.ville-douai.fr

Cosenza, Italy:

A Sister City relationship between Cosenza and Kenosha was established in 1979. An Italian delegation visited Kenosha in June of 2004 and October 2017. Three trips have been made to the region of Calabria.  Two large groups traveled to Italy in October 2007 and Spring 2019. They visited Cosenza and the surrounding communities of Castrolibero, Marano Marchesato, Marano Principato, and Rende. In July of 2015, Mayor Keith Bosman traveled to our Italian Sister City along with members of the Golden Strings from Tremper High School.

Quezon City, Phillipines:

A Sister City relationship between Quezon City and Kenosha was established in 1986. There have been no exchanges or visits to date.
