In-Person Absentee voting will be conducted at City Hall, 625 52nd Street, beginning 14 days before each election, pursuant to 6.86(1)(b) of Wis. Stats. This information will be updated to reflect specific days and hours before each election.

April 2, 2024, Spring Election & Presidential Preference: Ballots will be mailed to all voters with valid absentee requests on file on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Ballots will contiue to be mailed as requests are submitted and approve through the deadline on Friday, March 29, 2024, at 5:00 PM. Ballots must be received by mail or in-person in the City Clerk's Office no later than 8:00 PM on Election Day; it is reccommended to return by mail no later than seven days prior to Election Day to allow sufficient mailing time.

April 2, 2024, Spring Election & Presidential Preference: Ballots will be mailed to all voters with valid absentee requests on file on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Ballots will continue to be mailed as requests are approved through the deadline on Friday, March 29, 2024, at 5:00 PM. Ballots must be returned by 8:00 PM on Election Day to be counted. Voters may drop their absentee ballot off in Room 104 of the Kenosha Municipal Building, 625 52nd Street, Or, they may mail their absentee ballot back to the City Clerk’s office. The post office recommends returning ballots by mail at least seven days in advance to allow enough time for it to be received in the City Clerk’s office by 8:00 PM on Election Day.

 

Wisconsin law requires that an absentee ballot be mailed by the voter, or delivered in person by the voter, to the City Clerk unless otherwise qualified by law.

(Wis. Stat. § 6.87(4)(b)1)

 

A circuit court has interpreted this law to mean that the use of drop boxes located outside of a municipal building is restricted. Therefore the City of Kenosha has removed all ballot drop boxes.

 

In Wisconsin you must show a Photo ID in order to receive a ballot. 

Examples of acceptable forms of ID:

  • A Wisconsin DOT-issued license, even if driving privleges are revoked/suspended
  • A Wisconsin DOT-issed ID card
  • Military ID card
  • US Passport book or card
  • Certificate of Naturalization
  • ID issued by a federally recognized Indian Tribe in Wisconsin
  • ID card receipt issued by WIS-DOT (not expired)
  • Veteran Affairs ID card (not expired)

POLLING LOCATIONS: Voters can access their polling location at myvote.wi.gov.

The City Of Kenosha approved polling location updates for the upcoming election cycle. A complete list of polling locations and assignments awith a corresponding map is available here: City of Kenosha - Polling Locations.

DISABILITY ACCESS:Our polling places have been audited for accessibility. Nonetheless, voters with health issues, mobility issues, a disability, or difficulty waiting in line may vote from the curb of their polling place. Send someone in to the polling place to notify the poll workers that you are a curbside voter. If you do not have someone to send in to the polling place, contact the Clerk’s Office at  or 262-653-4020 to make arrangements to vote curbside.

Vote Absentee by Mail

You may submit an absentee request at myvote.wi.gov (click on Vote Absentee at the top of the website),

or you may send a written request that includes:

 - Name
 - City of Kenosha address
 - Address to which the ballot should be mailed
 - Signature
 - Copy of voter ID, if not already on file in Clerk’s Office

Ballots will be mailed out through the Thursday before the election. Absentee ballots must be received in the Clerk’s Office by 8:00 pm on Election Day. 

For federal elections, absentee ballots will be in the mail beginning 47 days before the election.

For elections that do not include federal offices, absentee ballots will be in the mail beginning three weeks before Election Day.

Voters may verify their registration, polling place, sample ballot, and absentee ballot status at myvote.wi.gov.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot is 5:00 PM, the Thursday before the election, but we recommend making your request as early as possible so there is adequate time to mail the ballot back to the Clerk's Office.

Become a Poll Worker

The compensation for City of Kenosha Poll Workers has recently been increased to $150.00 for the day!

To be considered for a Poll Worker position, complete the seven (7) sections of self certification training listed below.  Then complete the self certification form, and the seven (7) forms below the training.  Return all originals to the City Clerk at 625 52nd Street, Room 105, Kenosha, WI. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
