BLOCK PARTY
Block Party Permit Form
  • Purpose of Permit
  To block off a neighborhood street for a party.
Who May Apply?
  City residents.
Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. See Park Department for current amount.
  • Expiration Date
  Good only on date/time requested.
Important Information.
  Requires the following information:
• Name, address and daytime phone number of applicant.
• Date and time of block party.
• Street or avenue to be blocked off.
• Signatures of neighbors.

Requires approval of Kenosha Police Department and City Transportation Department.
Block Party request forms are available in the Public Works Department.

BOATS: Boat Launching & Trailer Permit for Simmons Island Marina
Purpose of Permit
  Authorization to use the public parking area and boat launching facilities on Simmons Island under the existing regulations prescribed by the Kenosha Board of Harbor Commissioners and the City of Kenosha Common Council (City Code of General Ordinances, Chapter XIX).
Who May Apply?
  Anyone wishing to launch a power boat from the launch ramps at Simmons Island.
Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. See Public Works Department for current amount.
  • Expiration Date
  There are two types of permits. There are yearly permits and daily permits. Yearly permits expire at the end of the current year. Daily permits expire at the end of the day.
Important Information.
  A boat sticker is issued for each yearly permit. The sticker should be affixed in a clearly visible area on the boat. Daily launch permits are sold by the harbor attendants at the Fish Cleaning Station, located west of launch ramps on 45th St.

BOATS: Lease of Power Boat Mooring at Simmons Island Marina

Purpose of Permit
 

Authorization to use the floating docks, laundry/bathroom facilities, and boat launching facilities at Simmons Island Marina under the existing regulations prescribed by the Kenosha Board of Harbor Commissioners and the City Common Council (City Code of General Ordinances, Chapter XIX).

Who May Apply?
  Anyone wishing to moor their boat at Simmons Island Marina on a seasonal basis.
Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. See Park Department for current amount.
  • Expiration Date
  Application/leases are good for the Simmons Island Marina boating season. Season runs from April 15 through October 31.
Important Information.
  In addition to a current application, boat slip holders are required to have a copy of their boat registration card on file in the Park Department along with proof of liability insurance. The liability insurance must list the City of Kenosha as an additional insured. The insurance company must be licensed to do business in the State of Wisconsin.

BOATS: Temporary Slip Rentals

Purpose of Permit
 

To afford transient boaters a place to moor their boats under the existing regulations prescribed by the Kenosha Board of Harbor Commissioners and the City Common Council (City Code of General Ordinances, Chapter XIX).

Who May Apply?
  Any boater wishing to use the Simmons Island Marina.
Is A Fee Required?
 

Yes. See Park Department for current amount.

  • Expiration Date
  Boaters purchase permits for the length of time that they wish to moor their boat within the approved boating season for that year (April 15 - October 31).
Important Information.
 

Transient boaters need to speak with the harbor attendants to pay fees and get a dock key at the Fish Cleaning Station.

BULK WASTE DROP-OFF TICKETS
  City residents or residential property owners may purchase bulk waste drop-off tickets to dump household, non-hazardous bulk waste at the City Drop-Off Site, 1001 50th Street.
Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. See Public Works Department for current amount.
  • Expiration Date
  None.
Important Information.
  Requires purchase of ticket prior to visit of Bulk Drop-Off Site. Tickets may not be purchased at the site. Tickets may be purchased at Lenci's Food & Deli, 2121 45th St. or Lou Perrine's Gas & Groceries, 5145 Sheridan Rd. For City Residents: Requires applicant's driver's license. For Non-Residents Who Own Property Within The City Limits: Requires a current tax bill showing ownership of property.

CONSTRUCTION: Curb & Gutter
Permit Application Form
Purpose of Permit
  To construct or repair curbs and gutters.
Who May Apply?
  Contractors.
Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. See Public Works Department for current amount.
Important Information.
 

Requires a license issued by the City Clerk Office to pour concrete.


CONSTRUCTION: Driveway Approach

Permit Application Form
Who May Apply?
  Homeowners or contractors, to construct, repair or widen a driveway approach (City Code of General Ordinances, 5.085).
Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. See Public Works Department for current amount.
  • Expiration Date
  Work must be performed between April 15 - November 15.
Important Information.
  Bond required for homeowners who wish to install their own approach. Bond forms are available in the Public Works Department, 625 52nd Street.
• Contractors must be licensed.

CONSTRUCTION: Parking Lot

Permit Application Form
Purpose of Permit
 

To construct, alter or repair a parking lot (City Code of General Ordinances, 5.08).

Who May Apply?
  Building owners or contractors.
Is A Fee Required?
 

Yes. See Public Works Department for current amount.

Important Information.
 

Requires a parking plan and total paved square footage of proposed parking lot.


CONSTRUCTION: Sidewalk

Permit Application Form
Purpose of Permit
 

To construct or repair a sidewalk (City Code of General Ordinances, 5.05).

Who May Apply?
  Homeowner or contractor.
Is A Fee Required?
 

Yes. See Public Works Department for current amount.

Important Information.
 

Requires the following information:

• Number of squares of sidewalk to be repaired or constructed.
• Name, address and phone number of applicant.

Bond required for homeowners who are pouring concrete of more than four sidewalk squares. Bond form available from the Public Works Department, 625 52nd St. Contractors must be licensed through the City Clerk's Office.

CONSTRUCTION: Street Opening / Occupancy
Permit Application Form
  • Purpose of License
  To dig in City streets, parkways and sidewalks or to occupy more than 1/3 of the right-of-way (City Code of General Ordinances, 5.04).
Who May Apply?
  Contractors. *

  Yes. See Public Works Department for current amount.

  Varies.

Requires $3,000 Street Opening Performance Bond and $1 million insurance certificate from contractor.

* Contractors requiring use of no more than 1/3 of the road between curb lines should apply instead for a Street Occupancy Permit through Neighborhood Services & Inspections.


PARK USE: Picnics • Ball Fields • Weddings

  Anyone, to reserve a City park for a picnic or wedding or a City ball field.
Is A Fee Required?
  Yes. See Park Department for current amount.

  Good only on date/time requested.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Special Events Permit Application
Purpose of License
 

To hold an event in a City park other than a picnic or a wedding (City Code of General Ordinances, 6.0).

Who May Apply?
  Anyone.
Is A Fee Required?
 

Yes. See Park Department for current amount.

  Good only on date/time of special event.
Important Information.
  Requires name, address and phone number of applicant. Requires name of facility, date/time of requested use and any special requirements Requires approval of Park Commission if over 250 people will be in attendance and if the applicant has requested something beyond normal allowances of this permit. Applicant must comply with restrictions and regulations set forth by the City Park Department.

TREES: Removal, Planting & Pruning

Purpose of License
 

To remove, plant or trim a tree in the City parkway (City Code of General Ordinances, 34.0).

Who May Apply?
  Anyone.
Is A Fee Required?
 

No fee required.

  • Expiration Date
  None.
Important Information.
 

Requires the following information:

• Reason for requesting the permit.
• Name, address and phone number of applicant.
• Name of person who will remove, plant or trim the tree in the City parkway.

Requires inspection by City Park Department. Applicant must comply with restrictions and regulations set forth by the City Park Department.
